Calliope's Magic Garden

Welcome

🚧 We're still under construction 🚧

I'm Greg, or Calliope, a writer, diviner, and teacher.

My essays range from 18th century gothic fiction to contemporary animist magical practice. I teach English composotion and postmodernism in comparative humanities.

I earned my phd in 2013, focusing on early science fiction and evolutionary theory.

I've been writing since I was a teenager, though it wasn't necessarily good back then. I want this site to be a place where I can write, no matter what happens. It might be a "slow blog," it might be about several topics at once, but it's where I want to be, and I want you to enjoy being here too.

I'm trans and nonbinary. I'm feeling out "demigirl" at the moment, but if that sticks I'm a bearded demigirl like at the old circuses or something. That's a real thing, people believe "bearded ladies" were probably trans women, at least a lot of them, just trying to live where and how they could. At any rate, I have no desire to get rid of the name my parents gave me, but also mostly people call me Callie, from Calliope, nowadays. There's a funny story about that.

I'm available for tarot readings, as of September 10, 2024.
